O&O AutoBackup 3 released: Automatic real time synchronization of personal data
O&O AutoBackup automatically backs up and synchronizes selected files and folders with an external backup device so that in the event of a data loss it can be accessed again immediately. No further application is needed – Windows Explorer alone will suffice.
Berlin, December 10, 2013 – O&O Software, a specialist in data security and data recovery, announces its latest version of O&O AutoBackup. O&O AutoBackup 3 automatically backs up and synchronizes selected files and folders using an external backup disk so that if data loss should ever occur, the disk can be used to access this data immediately. This can all be done under Windows Explorer so no additional program is needed.
If a user wishes to backup photos and videos onto an external USB hard disk, O&O AutoBackup will not only copy the original files but the future changes that will be made to them as well. The backup process will start automatically whenever a removable disk – in this case a USB hard disk – is connected to the computer. The files will be saved as copies on the target disk so that they can also be accessed without O&O AutoBackup using the normal Windows Explorer. New photos can be automatically backed up in this way as well: the only thing the user has to do is connect an external disk to the computer.
The new integrated real time synchronization feature protects data even faster. As soon as a file is changed or created on the source, O&O AutoBackup will copy it onto the connected target disk. The simple and intuitive user interface requires just a few clicks for creating dependable backups and guaranteeing full protection.
Automatic file comparison
Whenever an external disk is connected to the computer, O&O AutoBackup will check to see if there have been any changes to those files and folders already located on that disk. There’s no need to start the program manually.
Using a simple file selection dialog, the user can select the files, folders, and even partitions that he or she wants to backup.
Backup options include:
- Full Backup: all data is copied to the external disk into a directory. This is always the first step in order to have a complete backup of all selected files.
- Backup of the changes: All changes and new data will be copied. A new file is written each time but the original file on the external medium is not changed. Files that have been deleted on the source remain on the external disk.
- Synchronization: All changes are implemented and deleted data will be removed from the target medium.
- Real time synchronization: As soon as files are created or changed on the source, O&O AutoBackup copies them onto the designated target drive.
New and enhanced features
Compatibility: The new version is compatible with Windows 8.1 and fully meets the requirements of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Advanced settings: This is, for example, where the user can specify to which folder the backup copy should be written.
Scheduling: The user has various options available, among them, whether a backup should be carried out with new connections only, or on a daily/weekly basis.
Event Viewer: Logs the various activities carried out by O&O AutoBackup.
